into a come back."
Sports injuries may occur due to trauma or overuse. There are three main types of sports injuries; direct injuries, indirect injuries and overuse injuries.
Direct injuries are caused by an external force such as another player, an object or the ground. Examples of direct injuries are, haemotoma (corked muscle), concussion, fractures and bruising.
Indirect injuries are caused without contact, such as having poor technique or low fitness levels. Examples of indirect injuries are strains or muscles or sprains of ligaments.
Overuse injuries are caused by continual impact on bone, tendons, muscles or ligaments. Examples of overuse injuries are osteitis pubis, shin splints and tendonitis.
