SPIRITUAL HEALTH


Spiritual health is the most challenging to define, develop and maintain of the 5 dimensions of health. Spiritual health can be summarized as organised religion, prayer, hope, purpose and peace. The criteria for spiritual health includes belief in a supreme being, unity with a greater force, a guiding sense of meaning and value, organized religion, balance, meditation and meaning. It is not essential to have all of these elements to be spiritually healthy but the main concepts should be addressed to achieve spiritual health. Spiritual health is important as people who have high levels of this health element approach life changing events in a more positive and healthy manner than someone who has low levels of spiritual health.

 

HOW TO IMPOROVE SPIRITUAL HEALTH
There are many ways to improve your spiritual health. These include:

  • Being quiet and taking time for yourself every day to reflect and think about yourself, your values, purpose and meaning

  • Being open to new experiences and opportunities

  • Having an open and non-judgmental mind towards people

  • During times of pain, sorrow and hardship, not shutting yourself off from the world by being open to friends, family and others about your feelings and experiences.

  • Forgiving those around you for things they have done that have affected you directly and indirectly.

  • Pray, meditate or worship, which helps you to re-connect to nature, relax and praise the world.
    And most importantly: Live a joyful life. Recognize joy in your life and make room for it. Allow positivity and life changing things help you navigate through life. Have faith and believe in higher beings and things that are not easily explained.
