SOCIAL HEALTH
Social health is based around creating and maintaining fulfilling relationships with the people around you. Each relationship is different and nobody feels the same about everyone they meet. Those who are socially healthy have the ability to form meaningful connections with others and sustain lasting relationships. By doing this, it enables you to extend your social skills and develop your personality. Communication is a vital part of social health and by creating new connections with others, you are able to develop your communication skills. Creating new relationships can be challenging at times and everyone develops their relationships at their own pace. Those who are open minded and trustworthy often find it easier to sustain relationships, while those who are judgmental, rude and dishonest often struggle to maintain their relationships with others.
HOW TO STAY SOCIALLY HEALTHY
Because social heath involves others, it is important to try new things and meet new people. Things such as joining sports teams, traveling, volunteering at a charity and going for a walk to the park are all simple ways to meet new people.
There will always be others around you, you just need to take a chance and start a conversation. If you are shy, saying a simple ‘hello’ to someone near you is the first step to a new relationship, you just have to be friendly and take a chance.
